When my son was very young, he loved to invade the territory of his big sister’s bedroom. One toy she greatly treasured was a miniature doll house with a walkway and several Disney princess residents. The doll house included a large plastic key that had a magnetic disc. When the disc was placed under the walkway, movement of it under the walkway would allow the princesses to gracefully flow over the bridge. It was always a magical moment to watch! Her younger brother quickly learned the value of the “Magic Key.” It was a source of energy and treasured wonder for his sister. He would often sneak into her room and capture the Magic Key. This always led to battles and tears. To relinquish the Magic Key meant giving up control and power.
When your heart winces from stress and sorrow, there is hope in capturing the Magic Key and realizing it’s value. There is hope in realizing it is being formed for your destiny.
Leadership consultant Samuel Chand, who trains hundreds of pastors each year, once told an audience:
“Do not get discouraged. It may be the last key in the bunch that will open the door. The pain we experience in the beginning years of our lives gives us the wisdom and experience for a far more profound ministry for the rest of our lives.
When you were born, you were like a key with no cuts in it. As you go through life, each wound, failure, experience, hurt…cuts into that strip of metal. And one day there will be a clear CLICK – your pain has formed the key that slips into the lock and opens your future.”

When the grinding daily burdens scrape at your deepest pains, remember that there is an end product being formed. Grinding means there is a making and shaping taking place.
Hold on my friend – and remember…
I’m Listening.
