Waiting to Win

I am waiting on Thee, Lord, to open the way.” J. Hudson Taylor

Jehoshaphat received a report. Not good news. A powerful army was preparing to attack and make war with him and Judah. The news was overwhelming. It was beyond their ability to ultimately survive. Their response…

“Oh our God, will you not judge them? For we are powerless before this great multitude who are coming against us; nor do we know what to do, but our eyes are on you.” 2 Chronicles 20:12

God loves a challenge. God loves to be used by His people. Our ignorance keeps us from utilizing His power and His resources. Why do we feel the battles of life we must fight alone? Face alone? God’s Got It.

“O man, I beseech you do not treat God’s promises as if they were curiosities for a museum; but use them as every day sources of comfort. Trust the Lord whenever your time of need comes on.” C. H. Spurgeon

As all of Judah was standing before the Lord with their infants, their wives and their children…Jahaziel spoke words of courage and promise from the Lord.

Listen all Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem and King Jehoshapat…Do not fear or be dismayed because of this great multitude for the battle is not yours but God’s…You need not fight this battle, station yourselves, stand and see the salvation of the Lord on your behalf..tomorrow face them for the Lord is with you.”

So they trusted. They believed. They went out to the ridge to face the impossible and began to praise. “WHEN they began to praise the Lord set ambushes against the enemy and they were ROUTED.” 2 Chronicles 20:22b

Interesting word.

ROUTED: “defeat and cause to retreat in disorder.” Oxford Dictionary

When they went to the ridge to look out – guess what! There was nothing but corpses lying on the ground, and no one had survived. The enemy turned against themselves and destroyed each other.

All Judah had to do was rejoice and gather the valuable things for themselves.

How many times do we, through exhaustion and mental paralysis battle overwhelming odds? Hand your blood stained sword over to the Lord. Are you waiting to win? “Entrust problems to the Lord and leave it in His hands. He alone can storm the impregnable, devise the improbable, and perform the impossible. He alone will part the waters.” Robert J. Morgan

Stay encouraged. And remember…
