Changing Seasons

There are women in my lifetime that I have treasured as wise mentors. Some, I have personally met and known. Others, as a loyal admirer, I have cherished and added to my “want to meet in heaven” list.

One of those on my “heaven list” is Ruth Bell Graham. In the years of child rearing and endless daily chores, I found comfort in her written words. I learned from her to stop. Pause. To take in daily life moments for they will soon pass and a new life season will be demanding my attention.

Walking the other day, I noticed the first of leaves changing in color….quietly welcoming a new season. Changing seasons happen so quickly. Summer is daily vanishing as brisk cool mornings detect the new.. soon to be here.

Enjoy the lines below from Footprints of a Pilgrim.

Winter speaks to the surfeited heart,

weary of heat… and weeds and leaves,

longing to breathe cold, bracing air,

explore the hillsides swept and bare;

to revel in each bush, each tree,

stripped to stark simplicity; original etchings everywhere —

and You,

Who etched them,

with me here.

Pause today and release the “if when” moments. Embrace the waiting of tomorrows… by accepting the changes of today.

And remember….

I’m Listening…..
